Game’s Description:

A spaceship will have to survive hordes of enemies using as a last resort a meteor that bounces off the shields surrounding the ship. The player must maneuver the ship in a space and must hit the ball with the ship so that it bounces and bounces in a direction to destroy enemy ships.

Game’s State:

Meteor Bounce is a complete arcade gaming experience, with all sprites, animations, UI, sound music and menus aviable for the player to play.

My role in the project: Game Design, Programming, UI, level design, sound effects and art.

My experience with this project:

This was one of the most interesting projects I embarked on, with only one month of work to make a game from scratch by myself.

I set to work to start with the concept. I was told that it had to be a mini-game with an interesting core mechanic to make it entertaining. Knowing my limitations in programming that I had at that time, I developed a simple concept to work with and get a good result.

I took advantage of the fact that in that same year I worked on “Rockets N’ Galaxies” to reuse the ship designs I made, I changed the color tones to make them clearer for the player, easy differentiation between player and enemy, and created new backgrounds and UI for the game. Having the opportunity to remade some of the sprites and make the new ones based in my chnages I wish I could have done in “Rockets N’ Galaxies”, such as new background and new color palettes.

Thanks to the search of documentation, forums and videos I was able to create the base logic of the game, to create a simple, but entertaining experience.

Thanks to this project I learned a lot about the basics of programming and logic that would help me to develop “Serve&Slash” the following year.

A build of the game and the game design document are aviable to play and read to view the idea of the project and the performance of logic in game.
