Game’s Description:

Survive waves of spaceship enemies, while upgrading your own ship with random upgrades. An arcade and bullet hell experience that changes with every game, with your own upgrade decisions. By defending designated areas around the vast space, you will be able to choose from three upgrades to update your gameplay!

Game’s State:

Rockets N’ Galaxies development is officially over with a full gaming experience out to play in Itchio. The game contents all gameplay mechanics, sprites, menus and sound effects and music!

My experience with this project:

This was one of my first projects that I did at my university as a team formed by a colleague and myself. My job in the project, apart from game designer, was to design the UI and spaceship designs.

It was an entertaining and challenging experience, since I wanted the spaceship designs to be different from each other to be able to differentiate between them and the player, needing recognizable shapes and colors to complement them.

In total 15 of the 21 designs that I presented were approved by my partner to be introduced in the game. I must say that I am still proud of the work I did for this project and how everything went well.

It was one of the first contacts I had in game design, along with concept and UI design. I would have improved some of the visuals of the UI today with the knowledge that I have updated or change the background since it was a bit striking for the kind of gameplay and designs apply.
