Genre: Casual and Action Game
Platform: PC
Engine: Unity
Game’s Description:
Ticketbell is a small working fairy has left her home at the magic forest to achieve her dreams of creating a small tavern for all kinds of travellers to rest and eat her delicious dishes. Unfortunately, instead of normal and peaceful clients, Ticketbell is surprised by hungry and impatient monsters.
An arcade-style mini-game where the player must score as many points as he can throughout the game until he runs out of lives. The player will get points by cooking, serving and cleaning the tables to satisfy the customers that are entering the restaurant and sitting at the tables waiting for their order.
Game’s State:
Serve&Slash is currently under development with a playable POC that teaches the main mechanics of one of the game’s half, the «serving gameplay» in an infinite loop, along with a simple visual design as a base.
My role in the project: Game Design, Art, Level Design and Programming.
My experience with this project:
Thanks to this project I have been able to dig deeper into the world of C# programming in Unity and how to use this program. Creating logic from the established game design document, getting to develop a small playable experience.
During this project I mainly encountered problems regarding how to program the logic of the game I set up in the GDD and how to transfer it from paper to code. Since as mentionated before I didn’t had much experiencie with programming, with only a basic level of knowledge with the software of unity, but not with the programming, and also with a time limit and decisions to be made of which content to add.
I managed to find my way through the project with trial and error, looking for documentation through different media such as Unity documentation, videos or asking advice from other more experienced colleagues, until I was able to reach this desired result. I looked for other ways to reached the desired result I wanted with different perspectives and methods.
If I had more time to work more in this project, I would have loved to introduce other mechanics such as the «Slashing gameplay», since it was the part I needed to remove in order to reach my objective in time, I would have also love to add more mechanics related to the used experience such small tutorials or visual cues for the player to understand better the gameplay, improve its visuals, add sound and animations, apply menus…
In general, it is a good project that I would love to visit back years later to work on it again.
A build of the game and the game design document are aviable to play and read to view the idea of the project and the performance of logic in game.
