Genre: Thriller Game
Platform: PC
Engine: Unity
Game’s Description:
Yuko, a freelance artist who recently moved to start her own life, receives a commission that they must complete in one night under pressure from the client. During the night of work, Yuko will experience events that will cause them great stress and affect their efficiency, forcing them to find ways to calm down and recover in order to complete the job.
Game’s State:
The game has a playable version uploaded to itchio. This version is the build that was uploaded for the “Woman Game Jam 2025.”
We are currently continuing working on the project in order to release an updated version, both visually and mechanically, thanks to the community’s feedback.
Roles in the project:
Within the project, I was mainly responsible for the game design and narrative. I focused on a game design based on a “Work -> Rest -> Work” loop, where the player had to manage the resources available throughout the level, as well generating stress for the player through the game’s post-processed elements, along with its music and sound effects, making them experience the same stress as Yuko feels throughout the game.
For the narrative, I wanted to show how Yuko felt in a difficult situation, having just started her life in a run-down apartment, far from home and with a job she loves, but at the same time requiring her to maintain a high level of stability with her clients in order to earn money. I wanted to show this through the state of her apartment and through the game’s dialogues, showing how Yuko is struggling with her new life and job and must pull herself together to avoid falling apart.
In addition, I also provided programming support when fixing post-processing tools or creating textures for the game. Within Unity, I was also responsible for creating the level’s blockout and dressing.
My experience with this project:
The “Woman Game Jam 2025” is the first game jam I have participated in. I met a group of colleagues at the “Happypath Lab” summer camp, and we got together to participate in the game jam over a weekend.
The theme of the jam was “Nothing is what it seems.” We wanted to make a thriller game about a night of work where deadlines and high expectations can turn into our worst nightmare. We turned that stress and fear into what appeared to be a monster that was hurting Yuko, but in reality, it is they themself who is blocked by this fear and stress.
We decided to make a low poly 3D game because we had three people with 3D skills, wanting to take advantage of all the team members. We worked on the project throughout the weekend, helping each other as much as we could to achieve the desired scope for the game. The result was so well received by the entire group that we made the decision as a group to continue with the project in order to refine it and make the Worning Yuko experience even more enriching and complete!
I am very proud that we managed to complete a project of this magnitude in the time we were given. It may have some bugs, but the idea and gameplay are there. I hope to do more projects with my teammates and see where we can expand our horizons.
